Junior Season Fast Approaching |
With junior sportspeople in the Goldfields having completed their summer sports obligations, the 2010 junior football season is about to get underway on the 1st of May. Whilst there have been some changes to regular training schedules with ground availability etc, the City of Kalgoorlie Boulder and the GFL have both done a great job in securing training venues for all clubs with minimal disruption. All clubs now will commence training from the 29th of March after eager players flocked down to junior registration day back in late February. Excitingly, Junior Football continues to grow in the region and it is worth noting and the WAFC “Grow the Game” motto has never been more apt with the introduction of an 11 & under age group this year. This is largely due to the fact that the 12 & Under and 10 & Under competitions continue to grow with clubs having strong and healthy numbers with all clubs just about at full capacity. This new grade provides room for clubs to increase playing numbers, allowing more participants in our great game. These grades provide a great stepping stone from the very popular Auskick programme. Whilst some clubs have filled their teams, others still have a few spots left and it’s not too late to register for this season. Junior Club contacts have been included below for any queries you may have or for those juniors yet to register and hoping to get a game with a junior team this season.
