With junior sportspeople in the Goldfields having completed their summer sports obligations, the 2008 junior football season is about to get underway on the 26th of April. Whilst there have been some changes to regular training schedules with ground availability etc, the City of Kalgoorlie Boulder and the GFL have both done a great job in securing training venues for all clubs with minimal disruption. 2008 also sees a possible return to Wallace Park as a junior football venue for games, so stay tuned for updates there. All clubs have in fact now commenced training after eager players flocked down to junior registration day back in late February.
Events to mark down in your diaries include a lead up game to the WAFL league and reserves fixtures on the 3rd of May for our talented 15, 16 and 17 year old players. With some very talented players in our current 16’s and colts’ competition this should be a great exhibition.
At the other end of the spectrum the under 10’s players will also get the chance to show of their talents at a special half time fixture during that WAFL match as well , with all clubs involved. It is worth noting that once again the under 10’s comp is looking very healthy with all clubs just about at full capacity and providing a great stepping stone from the very popular Auskick programme.
