The seasons biggest upset has occurred, the Roos inspired by talented youngster Andrew Cullen did what not many thought would happen and toppled the unbeaten Diorites by 3 points.  Cullen was the outstanding player on the field contributing in general play, with 3 goals and a match saving tackle when the Diorites looked likely to attack deep into the game.  This performance gives the competition a real boost in the arm and Roos coach Peter Reed has been awaiting all year for the Roos to show some quality after only winning the one game prior to this match.   The Diorites still comfortably sit on top of the ladder and despite the best efforts of Mark McQueen and all season good players in Trent Moon and Rusell Walton fell short and have a short break having the bye this long weekend.

In a good weekend for the competitions younger players Railways pair David Harring and Aaron Rymer led the Panthers to an easy 64 point victory over Kambalda.  The win moves the Panthers into outright second suffering only two losses this year both to Mines.  Kambalda still search for their first win since July 2005 couldn't match Railways in the second half and would have been dissapointed only kicking two goals in this period.  Co-Coach Stephen Freemantle was welcomed back into the playing side after missing recently due to an accident at work while other co-coach Ben Andrews looks like he may miss most of the remainder of the year after suffering an injury when landing ackwardly last weekend against Boulder.

This Saturday night Matt Wellstead plays game 200 for the Boulder Tigers as they host Railways at Digger Daws Oval in what is a most important game for the Tigers not only to salute a club champion but to close in on Railways current hold on second spot.  On Sunday Kambalda travel again to Sir Richard Moore Sports Centre to tackle the now full of confidence Roos, the margin was 6 points in favour of the Roos last time and their footy has improved nicely since, might be another tough day on the field for the Eagles, and should they not break an almost two year drought you'd almost suggest a finals berth will once again pass them by.
