With steam coming from his ears Mines Coach Graeme Borchet unleashed on the unbeaten Blue and Whites when they found themselves surprisingly 24 points down at quarter time against the winless Eagles. This must have been the spark for Mines as they then kicked 20 goals to 4 for the balance of the game and in the end run away with a 76 point victory to keep their clean sheet in tact for 2007. Playing a pinch hitting role up forward Rob Hansen in the absence of Matt James once again put his class on a game of footy kicking 6 goals while Nathan Mourish continued his rich start to the season kicking 5 and moving his season tally to 15. After quarter time Mines midfield led by Trent Moon, Russell Walton and Steve Dewar got first purchase on the ball and brought the Mines forwards into goalkicking play thereafter. Kambalda would have been excited at their first quarter performance led by the very capable skipper in Mark Paperone, but sadly the side as a whole failed to fire a shot for the balance of the game.
An all in brawl (barring four players) did erupt during the game with the end result seeing Mines Steve Dewar and Kambalda's Matt Freemantle accepting a one week penalty for starting the fracas's after Freemanlte's teammate Dylan Ogilive was hit high in a marking contest.

After last weeks dismal showing against Railways, Boulder coach Shane Cable questioned his players application and dedication and come 5pm on Sunday, Cable would have been pleased that his charges answered his questions, with a stirring victory against Kalgoorlie. Its been tough times at Tigerland in recent weeks with a number of people either directly or indirectly having connection to the club passing away including former President and Life Member Bob Softley who's funeral service was held Friday preceding this clash, and this performance would have lifted the spirits of those connected to Boulder. It was an even game with the Roos holding slight advantages at the first two changes and then just prior to three quarter time looked in the box seat when leading by just over 2 goals, but it was this exact moment when the Boulder machine clicked into gear. Known backman Jason Rowe playing his 50th league game for the club became a real focal point across Centre Half Forward, while Chris Bowie again proved his effectiveness in become a reliable link from defence to attack and Levi Roos displayed acts of real desperation which resulted in this period for the Tigers kicking four goals before three quarter time to head into the last with a 9 point lead and real momentum. The Roos did get scores level during the last time, but again a powerful Boulder finish to the game with Clinton Rudd safe as houses in defence, Henry Papertalk using great pace and Tama Blackman kicking sealing goals (to take his match tally to 5) saw the red hot savaloys being sung with pride and passion. The four goal loss would have left Kanga's coach Peter Reed scratching his head as up to that period prior to three quarter time he had a functional forward line in Ral Finlayson and Peter Lehmann providing the midfield real options and both finished with 3 goals but sadly the midfield came to a real stop despite ruckman Adrian Thursby and Luke Billing doing their best to win the knock outs Boulder gained a yard of speed to out run and out gun his Roos. Kalgoorlie do have a lengthy Injury and Unavailable List and the black and whites will welcome back soon Skipper David Clark, midfielder Andrew Cullen, rebounding backman Lindsay Pankhurst and the versatile Darren Coyle. Once again Dale Beeson tried to do it all playing at both ends of the ground, youngster Beau Hay kicked a confidence boosting goal and as mentioned the Roos had some reliable talls in Lehmann and Finlayson while Rhys O'Loughlin always looks dangerous.
Well done to Jason Rowe and Vic Smith in saluting with victory in game number 50 for the Tigers, while former Roos Skipper Scott Freeman's game was hampered with a head injury that saw him sent from the ground under the blood rule and when he re-appeared wouldn't have looked out of place deep inside the pyramids of Eqypt.
