Not for the first time this year the Panthers have opened well against the league leaders to then suffer a goal drought en route to their third and only losses in 2007. Despite Railways positive start where Shane Properjohn and Meshek White were proving a handful with 3 first quarter goals each the Diorites took complete control of the match after quarter time with a 13 to 1 goal spread before the final siren saved Railways from a bigger losing margin than 45 points. Returning from injury skipper Rob Hansen was influential while Trent Moon the Mitchell Medal Favourite got better as the game got longer, and Leigh Mourish saw plenty of ball, while Marc Johnstone was elusive around the goals. Ruckman Mark McQueen was superb in nullifying the influence of Railways two quality opponents in Grant Smith and James Langley and also found time to kick a major to cap a wonderful afternoons work. The Diorites were led by a confident and skilful defence after quarter time with the efforts of Brett Pattison, Justin Doutch and Mitch Graham saw the midfield get right on top while the on ballers and forwards kicked with amazing accuracy to record 16.4 including Matt James with 3 goals (28 for the year) with all his shots never looking like missing . Both side incurred injury during the match with Panther Carl Armstrong coming off second best in a solid collision and maybe unlikely to play in coming weeks with a rib concerns while Jamie Bolt looked to have suffered a pretty serious arm/wrist injury.
Railways will welcome back soon into the starting line up the league's leading goalkicker in Michael Towns (29), Michael Blacker, Craig Stones and Peter Nazzari while Mines will be further strengthened by Russell Walton, Matt Fink and Nathan Mourish.

Boulder got the better of the winless Eagles by 31 points played in fine but cool conditions. Despite entering the game without Damian Dunlea who played reserves due to disciplinary reasons the Tigers found enough and regular avenue's towards goals to always have the match in hand after quarter time. The Tigers best players in particular Clinton Rudd, Daniel Coughlan, Henry Papertalk and Chris Bowie have all been key performers in 2007 and once again also contributed to the primary scoring options wile Kambalda were best served by Mathew Johnston and 5 goals from Lorrence Farmer which has seen him become an important player as the Eagles quest to break their 2007 duck.
