Round 12 was the round for close finishes with the league leaders Mines despite a third quarter lapse showing enough resolve to record a 6 point victory over their arch rivals. The Diorites welcomed back the exciting Ritchie Bourne and also got good service from Mark McQueen and Marc Johnstone with 3 goals. For Boulder they now lose a little touch with Railways for second spot and coach Shane Cable will be concerned about the sides inability to stay in touch with sides during the middle stages of games before mounting mighty comebacks. Daniel Coughlan who has proved the Tigers best in 2007 again figured in both the goals and best players while Henry Papertalk continued solid form while Colin Harvey improves with each outing.
Played Sunday at Sir Richard Moore Sports Centre June 16th

In Season 2007 the Roos have played in 5 games decided by less than 6 points for two wins and three losses, with two of those losses being consecutive Railways fixtures with the most recent installment seeing the Redlegs secure victory by 4 points. So amongst this heartbreak remembering the Roos lost by one point last week against Boulder and then also by the same margin and opposition in the 06 Preliminary Final the Roos have been most competitive and not a true indication of their fourth placed standing with 3 victories from 10 games. Once again a late Railways match winning goal was secured with veteran Panther Shane Properjohn who is closing in on 150 club games saved his best snap for goal to secure the four points for his team by the same margin. Possibly first credit for Railways is to the defence where Christrian Robinson held Ral Finlayson to one goal while in attack Michael Towns the competition's leading goalscorer with 29 secured 4 goals. The Panthers had good players in Stuart Gould and Aaron Rymer while the Roos had David Clark, Wes Miller with 4 goals and Dale Beeson once again their best.
The Ladder
Mines 9 wins from 10 games 169.17%
Railways 7 wins from 9 games 129.73%
Boulder 5 wins from 10 games 103.80%
Kalgoorlie 3 wins from 10 games 90.22%
Kambalda 0 wins from 9 games 46.74%
Great Southern Carnival
All four playing sides did miss the regions best youth who just failed in making the 2007 Great Southern Colts Carnival Grand Final and hence missed the opportunity to win four championships, but settling for third the squad led by Greg Evans performed well for the Goldfields.
Game 1 Clontarf 7.10 def Goldfields 7.9
Game 2 Goldfields 12.9 def Esperance 3.6
3rd v 4th Final Goldfields 14.9 def Ongerup 7.9
Making the All Stars were Tiger Chayne George who was named vice captain of the this squad and named the best player of the carnival for all teams, Kalgoorlie's Andrew Cullen and Mines Ben Basley.
Ruckman Peter Nazzari was unlucky to miss selection in this squad but was awarded the MacGregor Medal as best for the Goldfields at the Carnival.
This Weekend.
Sunday afternoon Boulder play host to Kambalda, while at Sir Richard Moore the top two do battle with Railways who's only losses this season have been against Mines it would should prove to be an entertaining match and one Railways must win if they seek to entertain any thoughts of top spot prior to the finals.
