Mines turned on the power in the second half to blitz Boulder 13 goals to 2, despite the match being a contest in the first half.  Mines kicked with a strong breeze in the first and failed to capitalize on that advantage, but did well to split the second quarter goal wise with the Tigers, but after that Mines continued their recent dominance over Boulder, and lived true to the home and away winning average of 50 points, but going 27 points better to record an easy in the end 77 point victory.  Mines will now have the opportunity to record 3 flags in a row and aim for Premiership number 40 and at the same time avenge their second semi final defeat at the hands of minor premier Railways.

On Baller and finals specialist Cameron Allen enjoyed and afternoon out and generally where the footy was, so was he and was supported by Nick Willis and Joel Gust while this week the Diorites had a fully functional forward line with all the main players getting involved in on the scoreboard.  Mark McQueen came into the side at the expense of Daniel Biliczka and had an immediate effect at Centre Half Forward and Mitch Graham enjoyed his time up forward in the second half.  Mines had the luxury of being able to rest key members Luke Nugent and Steve Dewar during the second half while the game time for skipper Trent Moon will be invaluable for the Grand Final.  Boulder whilst disappointed with the result will be proud to have got so close to a Grand Final after a coming good late the in home and away season and paid tribute to the retiring Ben Gabbedy after 156 games for the Tigers the 38 year old veteran was given the honour of leading the charges to the rooms for one last time at the final siren.  The Tigers fell away badly in the second half with Brandon George kicking their only two goals for the half in the last quarter and the effort of Brent Marra, John Grandile and Daniel Coughlan could not be questioned.

Grand Final Preview RAILWAYS v MINES ROVERS Saturday September 12th

Would suspect Mines may go into the Grand Final with an unchanged side from the Preliminary Final victory and did look to get through the game unscathed, whilst Railways with the benefit of a week’s rest may be able to consider the inclusion of some quality in Carl Armstrong, Meshek White, Kody Kelman & Christian Robinson, which may mean the usual heartache story at selection is likely to raise its head again in September.
