Best Players Mines: Mitch Graham, Keiron Giblett, Matt Power, Jason Boyd & Luke Nugent.

From looking up at the competition in 2008, Kalgoorlie find themselves on top of the ladder having won 3 of their first 4 games and this would have been a sweet victory over last year’s premiers Mines.

A powerful third quarter converted into a 17 point victory on ANZAC Day, where player coach Shane Properjohn was awarded a medal for being best afield by the judges. Matt Wellstead was again amongst the goals and kicked 5, which could have been more for not some time on the pine, when yellow carded during the game while Skipper Dale Beeson did an outstanding job on Mines Full Forward Daniel Casset.  The Diorites are in pretty unfamiliar territory having only one win  from their first four games but did receive solid service as always from Keiron Giblett, Mitch Graham and Ruckman Luke Nugent formerly of Perth in the WAFL has played some good footy.

Played Sunday “Day Game” at Diggers Daws Oval April 26th

Best Players Boulder: Scott Worthington, Henry Papertalk, Steve Waddington, Brent Marra, Justin Langridge & Craig Mitchell.

Best Players Kambalda: Chris Skidmore, Jason Dowling, Michael Rodney, Travis Hart & Mark Paperone.

The Boulder Tigers celebrated its first victory for 2009 sealing a maiden coaching victory for Adrian Hooks in the process by outgunning Kambalda by 52 points.

The Tigers led at every change and enjoyed good football where a higher margin could have achieved barring the 5.6 kicked in the last quarter.  Squaring up against former teammates for the first time James Murray kicked 3 for the Tigers, while Steve Waddington also booted the same and was included in his sides best players, while Troy Wilson still looking as fit as his AFL and WAFL days kicked 4 before sitting out the final quarter with an injury concern. Obviously Boulder’s form has been on the improve but to dispose of Kambalda, who had done the same to Railways the week prior would have been a very pleasant surprise for all those in black and gold.

This Weekend

Railways host Boulder Saturday Night (6pm) at Sir Richard Moore Sports Centre In the clash of the Cats, Railways off the bye and were beaten last start while Boulder complete their fourth game since April the 8th including two very recent warm Sunday Day games, while Kambalda will travel to Digger Daws Oval in consecutive weeks to play Mines Rovers with the hunt for early spots in the four on in Ernest by all 5 competing clubs.  Kalgoorlie will retain top spot after the first series of games against each other should Boulder prevail over Railways.
