One of the better and most convincing wins this season by the Roos romping home by a lazy 86 points, and keeping alive a slim hope of second spot after Mines loss to Railways as below.  The Roos welcomed back key figures into their side including Matt Wellstead who has now kicked 42 goals for the season, Nick Hay and former East Perth defender Jay Leeder who impressed in his first outing with the black and whites, while Kambalda were missing some of their better performers.

Kambalda can still make the finals and have the bye this weekend but then play Railways before a potential elimination final against Boulder August 16th.

Railways skipper David Stubbs celebrated his 200th appearance for the Panthers in an influential performance that saw the league leaders sneak past the Diorites who held a narrow margin for most of the game.  Despite entering the final term 6 points down Railways broke to an 11 point lead mid way through the final term before the Diorites slammed 2 consecutive goals themselves to regain a one point lead.  In the frenetic final moments Railways forward Meshek White snapped home his 4th and most important goal of the game for then the remaining minutes of the game being played in Mines Forward 50 where Jamie Bolt had a difficult set shot from about 35 metres out that narrowly missed giving the Panthers a 3 point victory when the siren sounded just after the resulting kick in.  Railways players despite being exhausted were jubilant to celebrate their skipper Stubbs milestone who played a pivotal role in the game to hoist him victorious from Sir Richard Moore.  Stubbs becomes the 3rd Panther to play 200 games after club legends Neville Brierley and Robbie “Junior” Payton.  It was a cracking game and deserving of a top of the table clash with Railways led by best on ground Sean O’Keefe all but sealing top spot despite themselves and Mines having 3 qualifying games left to play.  The Diorites were well served by Premier Ruckman Luke Nugent, who did appeared injured post game while Grae Grant, Cameron Allen and Steven Dewar all enjoyed magic moments through the midfield.
