This Weekend Round 13…..

Whilst preparations continue for the GFL’s return to A Section at the Landmark Country Carnival from July 9th, Round 13 holds some intrigue for the four clubs competing.

Saturday Night Railways return to the scene of Kambalda’s only 2009 win which seems so distant being April 18th, though Railways who’s last visit was one of their two 2009 losses are coming off the back of 5 consecutive wins and at this moment have top spot in their keeping.  Being brilliantly led by skipper David Stubbs who is closing in on the 200 game milestone, key forward Kody Kelman and effective ruck work of David Serich and the quality of Sean O’Keefe will give Stan Ward and has Kambalda team much to think about and for an upset to occur. Troy Wilson will continue to be a key target and chief attacking option while midfield options including Travis Hart, Stephen Freemantle and Lincoln Rodney, together with the experience of Paul Ridley will require big efforts to knock off the league leaders.

After a draw and victory to Kanga’s by less than a goal in Round 3, the betting person would suggest another close contest this Sunday at Sir Richard Moore Sports Centre between Kanga’s and Boulder.  Boulder would be most keen to play out the four quarters and whilst fourth spot is not guaranteed it does seem finals footy looms and therefore no better time than now to put things together.  Scott Worthington has been a shining light for Boulder and Scott Walker and Henry Papertalk have been effective, while James Murray needs more support in front of the sticks, while the Roos with super fit player coach Shane Properjohn enjoying a great personal season for the black and whites can turn to Matt Wellstead and Tom Betlehem for goals and the drive of Skipper Dale Beeson, the canniness of Rhys O’Loughlin and the unpredictability of Wes Miller playing his 150th game, the Roos need victory to harbor any thoughts of a second semi final berth later In the season.

The Diorites currently occupying second position enjoy the bye this round.
