Boulder are party crashers!

It was a huge weekend of celebration for Kambalda who were acknowledging the clubs 40th Anniversary, with past greats Michael Symons and John Annear expected to attend the festivities, so the Eagles who are engaged in a battle for second with Boulder had plenty of reasons to strive for victory, but Enter Boulder the party poopers.  The Tigers who had Shane Cable at the helm for the last time prior to his work transfer to Perth were also keen to spoil Kambalda’s show and in the end proved successful with this to pull away in the final quarter to record a 29 point victory to now hold outright second position. Favorite Son and premiership player Brad George will guide the Tigers for the balance of the season.

Played at Sir Richard Moore Sports Centre Sunday May 11th.

A power performance from the Diorites saw them emerge impressive 93 point victors over Railways.  Russell Walton who brings his own footy when he plays Railways kicked 6, improving on the 5 he kicked when the teams last met.  The afternoon also proved a return to form of Matt James with 5 and Ben Stein who is proving a good foil for the other forwards kicking 4 and making it 7 in total in his past two outings.  The Panthers were outplayed and overwhelmed by the might of the Diorites and one goal to half time was a sad reflection of their afternoon then with 10 goals to 4 in the second half consigned them a good old fashioned flogging.

The Ladder

Mines Rovers 6 wins from 6 games with 1 Forfeit 141.61%

Boulder 4 wins from 7 games 114.14%

Kambalda 3 wins from 6 games 100.21%

Kalgoorlie 2 wins from 6 games 75.45%

Railways 1 win from 6 games 74.26%

This Weekend

Saturday Night at Digger Daws Oval should provide some interest with Mines playing host to Kalgoorlie.  The Roos had the bye last weekend and should be up for this contest given the Mines Forfeit controversy of Round 1.  Though having said that the Diorites are going through the gears and last weeks demolition of Railways was further proof of their premiership favoritism.

Railways firmly and squarely on the rebound, face Kambalda Sunday at Sir Richard Moore Sports Centre, with the Eagles also smarting from last Saturdays night loss to Boulder. Railways are expecting some key players back, as too Kambalda with forwards James Murray and Lorrence Farmer not far from playing so this contest should prove competitive and a good stern test for Kambalda to win a key match away from home.
