Played Saturday Night April 19th at Kambalda West Oval.

Kambalda                    4.0                   11.2                 12.3                 17.8 (110)

Railways                       4.2                   5.3                  9.6                  9.9 (63)

Goals Kambalda: James Murray 7, Gerald Hansen 3, Sean Matheson, Mickey Wells & Tim Fitzgerald 2, Stephen Freemantle 1.

Goals Railways: Michael Towns 3, Dave Harring & Brodie Peterson 2, Daniel Colling & Josh Brown 1.

Best Players Kambalda: James Murray, Adam Jukes, Stephen Freemantle, Steven Simpson & Gerald Hansen.

Best Players Railways: Dave Harring, Aaron Rymer, Justin Giles, Brodie Peterson, Matt Armstrong & Carl Armstrong.

The Eagles continued with their strong home form to dismantle Railways by the tune of 47 points.  The Panthers did enter the match with a host of front line players missing, and did well to challenge Kambalda to three quarter time, but the new found confidence, fitness and skill of the Eagles saw keep Railways goalless while scoring 5 goals themselves.

James Murray continued to show good form in front of the goals and the Dianella Morley recruit has now saluted the big sticks 12 times in 2008 to be placed equal second in the goal kicking ladder.  Last season’s rookie of the year Dave Harring continues to mature as a footballer and finished Railways best player.

To be played Sunday April 20th at Sir Richard Moore Sports Centre.

Mines Rovers forfeited to Kalgoorlie.

A disappointing afternoon unfolded at headquarters with Mines Rovers forfeiting all fixtures in colts, reserves and league due to concerns about the new surface at Sir Richard Moore.  As a result Kalgoorlie were required to suit up and run on to the field with the umpires at the designated kick off times to claim the four points, and finished the afternoon with an hour long scratch match between themselves.

The Situation was not pleasant to Kalgoorlie who had arranged functions around the match including a memorial day to life Member Jeff Usher who passed away a few years ago, and was also to recognize Scott Haythornthwaite who was to play his 100th senior game, and meant the club did gain revenue as expected should the fixture had gone ahead.

It also has robbed both sides of percentage and individual awards for both clubs being Fairest and Best, goalkicking awards and the like at a disadvantage to the other 3 GFL clubs who are likely to complete their allocated 16 home and away games.

Mines Rovers had sought a venue swap but the GFL stood by the origination of the original fixtures.  By Forfeiting Mines will incur Fines of up to $750 and have found themselves at odds with the GFL, other GFL clubs and football supporters in general, but firmly believe they took the right actions for Mines Rovers.

It is not expected that other visiting clubs and the home tenants Railways and Kalgoorlie would be involved in further forfeit at Sir Richard Moore.
