Railways rested players, while Boulder needed to win to secure hosting of the First Semi Final. The game was close on the scoreboard due to Railways horrible inaccuracies, though it was the 4.1 to 2.3 final quarter that ended up winning them the game. Having secured second spot Railways brought back 07 Mitchell Medallist James Langley, Matt Armstrong, Daniel Colling, Brendan Sacilotto & Tim Desmond, while out of the side went Mick McLean, Christian Robinson, Roland Morrison, Tyson Brock & Meshek White where by you’d suspect that at least 3 of these players will march back into the Second Semi Final Side. This wasn’t a great finals preview by both sides and the Tigers will sweat on the recovery powers of Henry Papertalk who was stretcherd off in the first quarter after a heavy knock though did return briefly late in the game. Chris Maguire secured the Dick Robinson Medal holding off a late challenge from Panther David Marinovich. Tigers who might be considered for the First Semi Final include Damian Dunlea, Dion Woods, Casey Corrigal and Brent Marra with the latter playing reserves while the former two immediate futures are unknown, though would be valuable inclusions should they appear in the First Semi.

The assignment was simple for Kambalda, win the game and rely on Railways doing the same and the Eagles catapult into third and host the First Semi Final, where by it being the first final the Nickel Town has hosted for as long as anyone can remember but more importantly play finals after brief efforts in 2002 and 2004 this decade. Starting the game eight goals to four, set the foundation for a solid afternoon at the office, with both teams coming off big losses the previous week. The Eagles welcomed back Troy Wilson who kicked 5 and was well supported in the goal kicking stakes with Tyrone Ward best afield and also kicking 5. Kanga’s bow out of 2008 and should be shattered to lose the last two games by a combined 200 points. Matt Wellstead finished a useful first season for the Roos with 3 goals to win his clubs goalkicking with 29 while Scott Haythornthwaite would be every chance to win the Roos fairest and best and Sundays performance would have done no harm to this. The Eagles spread the goals amongst 10 players with the low light for the day being the report and subsequent one match suspension to Chris Skidmore who has been outstanding during the home and away, and will be praying his teammates salute in the First Semi to give him the chance of playing finals footy in 08.
