Kalgoorlie rebounded strongly from the previous weeks defeat to Boulder, to win a low scoring encounter in the Kalgoorlie Derby.

The result was the perfect way for former Panther Shane Properjohn to coach his first victory for the Roos, and Stewart Gould also learning new words to the song which was sung with some gusto.  The Panthers would be disappointed to have not scored in both the second and fourth quarters, while the Sir Richard Moore surface will come under more scrutiny given a season ending knee injury to Panther Adam Barkley and further knee concerns for Panther Carl Armstrong and Roo Andrew Cullen.

One of the best games of GFL seen for some while, in energy sapping conditions the Diorites withstood a spirited Boulder comeback to record a narrow 4 point victory.  After showing all once again his class Rob Hansen kicked 9 impressive goals and had a solid support cast including Travis Hart, Nick Willis and Nathan Mourish in casting some influence over the result.  For the Tigers Damian Dunlea was elusive in the forward line who’s 5th goal was a goal of the year contender for both the six points and the celebration but with that kick bringing the margin back to 4 points the siren sounded less than a minute later to snuff out a late victory assault.  Chayne George was very impressive as he closes in on 50 league games while Roos recruit John Grandile was great value at both ends of the ground.
